Abstract / Resumen:
The 2015 update of the Health Equity Monitor introduces: expanded survey data, 95% confidence intervals for point estimates, a larger number of interactive visuals, and interactive country profiles. The Health Equity Monitor includes data about reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health indicators, disaggregated by education, economic status, place of residence (rural vs. urban), and child’s sex (where applicable). Data are based on Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) and Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) conducted in 94 countries, 93 of which are low- or middle-income countries.
Core components of the Health Equity Monitor include the database, equity country profiles and interactive visuals:
- The database presents data for over 30 reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health indicators, collected from nearly 250 surveys in 1993–2013. For almost three quarters of the countries, data are available for at least two time points.
- Equity country profiles highlight disaggregated data for 86 study countries where a DHS or MICS was conducted between 2005 and 2013 and data are publicly available.
- Interactive visuals show inequalities in select health interventions and outcomes (latest situation and change over time).
